My Mac shows as offline
- Check the Mac companion app is actually running on the Mac, and that the Mac is awake.
- Confirm both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, or both joined to the same Tailscale network.
- Open Paired Macs on the phone and pull to refresh — a sleeping machine reconnects on its own once it wakes.
I cannot start a session
- Check you are signed in with the same account on both devices. Different accounts is the most common cause.
- Open CLI settings on the Mac and confirm the agent you are choosing has been found — a question mark next to Claude Code or Codex means it cannot launch it.
- Confirm the folder you picked still exists on that machine.
The agent has stopped responding
- Check whether it is waiting on an approval — a blocked session looks a lot like a stuck one.
- Open Console on that machine and run something small to check the shell is answering at all.
- If it is genuinely wedged, fork the conversation from your last good message rather than losing the context entirely.
Something in the app looks wrong or out of date
- Force-quit and relaunch the app. The interface updates itself, and a relaunch picks up the current version.
- If a screen is empty that should not be, check the machine it is pointed at is online — machine-scoped screens go blank when their machine is unreachable.
